It all started in the Swiss Alps.

Retired athlete Olivier Bernhard wanted to create a running shoe with a totally new feel.

He started experimenting with pieces of garden hose, gluing them to the outsole of his prototype.

Caspar Coppetti and David Allemann came on board in 2010…

And the experience of ‘running on clouds’ was born.

The goal was to create the most high-performance shoe ever:

Cushioned landings, powerful take-offs.

Fully engineered in Switzerland, using the most advanced technology possible.

In March 2010, On’s revamped prototypes won the ISPO BrandNew Award.

Today, On has been welcomed into the hearts (and onto the feet) of over 7 million athletes in over 50 countries…

… And there’s still much, much more to come. Dream On.

Technological innovation lies at the heart of On. ‘Better’ is achieved through continual experimentation. Never being afraid to start again different or break the mold. The Athlete Spirit guides everyone at On. And like our athletes, we are always recalibrating and reengineering toward better. Our goal is to make high-performance products with the lowest possible footprint – engineered for circularity, designed with preferred materials, using enhanced manufacturing methods and distribution models. By working from our own On Lab, alongside our most close and trusted partners, we can control our manufacturing processes down to the details. After all – saving the planet is a team sport.

The power of running together

It all started with a question: What if we brought the world’s best runners together to chase something bigger? What began as a bold dream has grown into a global family of elite athletes. Today, the On Athletics Club (OAC) spans four distinct teams: OAC Global in Colorado, USA; OAC Europe in St. Moritz, Switzerland; OAC Oceania in Melbourne, Australia; and OAC Sprint in Los Angeles, USA. From the endurance of middle and long-distance to the explosive power of the world’s fastest sprinters, each team nurtures a unique community, united by their striving spirit and love for the run. Led by world-class coaches, our athletes are more than just fast – they’re storytellers in motion. From Olympic icons and World Championship podium-finishers to the rising pros of the next generation, they’re chasing personal bests, national records and the moments that matter most. The results speak for themselves: Olympic medals, World titles and records shattered. But what sets the OAC apart is the fire in their hearts. Whether they are grinding through high-altitude miles or perfecting a fraction of a second out of the blocks, this isn’t just about winning – it’s about the pursuit, the community and the passion that connects them all.
